The Original Cut is a design company that specialises in production; multimedia; and TV and film editing.  We offer our clients a range of services from full production, to interactive multimedia design; DVD authoring and Avid editing facilities. Since our inception in 1993 we have completed numerous projects including TV documentaries; award winning music videos; high end TV and cinema commercials; corporate communication videos; and DVDs that have been used in museums; public installations; direct marketing campaigns and as a bonus included with magazines.

Our facility includes Avid offline and online edit suites; including onlines with 3D DVE; intraframe paint; After Effects and combustion. Our Avid Suite is connected via a Unity storage system. Our large and comfortable suite is available for dry hire or with one of our experienced editors. Located in leafy Remuera, The Original Cut is housed in a unique and tranquil 16th century style Japanese house. We have experienced assistants on hand to assist with edit sessions. Assistance can also be arranged for after hours and weekend sessions.

We can accept footage on virtually any format from Dig beta through to MiniDV and even U-matic and VHS. We also support 24fps editing for film, and can arrange for digitising and editing in NTSC. Similarly, all graphics formats are supported for still frames and animation which can be emailed through to us and incorporated into an edit session. Remote approval services are also available through our MPEG service. Clients can access our high-speed web server at www.cut.co.nz and download a movie file of an edit in progress. Conference calls can then give instant feed back to the team in the edit suite. This is proving both popular and beneficial to the growing international market being serviced by The Original Cut.
